City of Boone Water Treatment Facility

General Description:

The City of Boone has a 6.9 MGD Lime Softening Water Treatment Plant constructed in 1998-2000.  This facility is classified as a Grade IV Treatment Plant and consists of the following units:

1.Aeration

2.Two upflow solids contact clarifiers

3.Recarbonation tank

4.Four gravity single media filters

5.Chlorine contact basin

6.Fluoridation

7.Two MG ground storage reservoir

8.High service pump station with three pumps with a capacity of a pumping rate

  of 1750 gpm each.

9.Diesel generator for emergency use

10.      13 shallow wells located along the east bank of the Des Moines River

The Boone Water Works also provides water to Xenia Rural Water, Logansport Water District, and Benefited Water District.
